How Game Shows ONLINE works: your TV is the show, your phone is the buzzer

Arnold: Game Shows ONLINE!
Arnold: Welcome to Game Shows ONLINE! Your TV is the show, and everyone’s phone is their buzzer. Here’s how it works.
Lily: Only the host needs an account. Everyone else just joins on their phone: no account, and no app to download.
Arnold: To join, scan the code on the TV with your phone’s camera, or go to game shows dot online slash play and type the room code.
Lily: Then type your name, and take a selfie or pick a cartoon character. That’s it, you’re in!
Arnold: The host runs the night from their phone: pick a game, start it, and skip ahead whenever you like.
Lily: When it’s time to answer, your phone shows you what to do. Most of the time you just tap your answer, or type it in.
Arnold: Some games want you to say it! Tap the big blue button, say your answer, then tap again to stop. Check what we heard, and tap Yes. And when someone’s answering, everybody else, shhh!
Lily: Quizzes can be played three ways: everyone guesses, buzz in first, or say it out loud to a Quizmaster in the room.
Arnold: That’s all there is to it. Grab your phones, join in, and pick a game!
Watch: game night, made easy

Lily: Pick teams, or go solo. The host runs the night from their phone, and can play too.
Arnold: Choose a game, a quiz, or a whole show. Set the rules, pause or skip from Backstage.
Lily: Flip the answers. Spin the wheel. Race to buzz. Spot the Imposter. Clash with cards!
Arnold: Plan a whole show ahead. Games flow together, and points add up to one big winner.
Lily: Game Shows Online. Your TV is the stage. Try it free!
Three ways to play a quiz
Everyone guesses, Buzz first, or Say it out loud with a Quizmaster: Arnold (the virtual host) and Lily (the virtual co-host) show each way.
Read more: What are the three ways to play a quiz?
Read the video transcript
Arnold: There are three ways to play a quiz! Let's take them one at a time.
Arnold: First… Everyone guesses! Every phone picks an answer at the same time. Everyone who's right scores. The game does the marking.
Lily: Second… Buzz first! Race to hit your buzzer. The fastest player answers on their phone. The game does the marking.
Arnold: Third… Say it out loud! Shout your answer to the room. The Quizmaster sees the right answer on their phone, and taps Right or Wrong. They know the answers, so they sit that game out.
Lily: That's all three! Want to play along too? Pick Everyone guesses or Buzz first.
What's a show?
A show is your whole night, set up in advance: it flows from game to game, and the points add up to one big winner.

Arnold: A show is your whole night, set up in advance. Pick the games, then set their rules, age groups and players before the night.
Lily: Then it flows from game to game. No stopping for setup! The points add up all night, to one big winner.
Arnold: Or pick a one-off game: choose its options when you play, and its points count just for that game.
Make a quiz about your guests
Guests answer at home from a private link (baby photos, whose voice, two truths and a lie), then the TV turns it into the quiz.

Arnold: Make a quiz about your guests! Pick baby photos, whose voice, two truths and a lie, or who said this.
Lily: Email each guest their own private link, or send it to a parent, partner or friend to keep the surprise.
Lily: At home, they send answers, photos or a voice clip from their phone.
Arnold: See who's finished on your progress page, with an automatic reminder the day before.
Arnold: On party night, the TV turns those answers into the quiz. Your guests are the questions!
Who’s Who Hullabaloo options on your guest list
Arnold (the virtual host) shows the three optional guest list cards for the guest quiz: someone who knows each player, people who know everyone, and video messages.

Arnold: Who’s Who Hullabaloo options! Here’s what they’re for.
Arnold: Our guest quiz is all about your players. Switch these options on, and three cards appear. Every one is optional.
Arnold: Someone who knows them: a parent, partner or friend answers that player’s questions, so the answers stay a surprise.
Arnold: People who know everyone, like a coach or a teacher, can answer about any player.
Arnold: And video messages let someone who can’t make it say hello on the night.
Arnold: On party night, I turn all those answers into a quiz on the TV, and everyone guesses who’s who!
Arnold: Leave them empty, and every other game works just the same. Easy!
How to answer out loud on your phone
Arnold (the virtual host) shows the microphone: tap the blue button, say your answer, tap again, check what we heard, and keep quiet while someone else answers.
Read the video transcript
Arnold: Here's how you answer! Tap the blue button once, say your answer, then tap again to stop. Easy!
Arnold: Then check what we heard: tap Yes if it's right… or Try again!
Arnold: And one golden rule: when someone's answering, everybody else, shhh! The microphone hears the whole room, and we don't want YOUR shouting to count as THEIR answer!

Read how to play Survey Showdown
Read the video transcript
Arnold: Two players face off and race to buzz in first. The higher answer on the board wins control of the round for their team.
Lily: Your team calls out answers to the survey question. Each one on the board flips over and scores its points. But three wrong guesses is three strikes!
Arnold: Three strikes, and the other team gets one guess to steal every point on the board!
Lily: Play through the rounds, and the team with the most points wins Survey Showdown!
How to play Spin & Solve
Spin the wheel from your phone, call letters and solve the hidden phrase: buy vowels, dodge the bad wedges.
Read the video transcript
Lily: The TV shows the puzzle and its category. When it’s your turn, spin the big wheel from your phone and see what you land on.
Arnold: Pick a letter. Every time it’s in the puzzle, it lights up and you score the points you spun. You can buy a vowel too, once you have enough points.
Lily: Careful! Some wedges lose your turn, and one loses all your points for this puzzle.
Arnold: Know the phrase? Choose Solve and say it into your phone. Only the player who solves it keeps the points. Most points after the puzzles wins!
How to play Question Quest
Pick a tile, buzz in on your phone and say your answer as a question: bigger points, harder clues.

Arnold: Pick a tile on the board. Every topic hides clues worth points: bigger points, harder clues!
Lily: The clue goes up on the TV. If you know it, buzz in on your phone. The fastest buzzer gets to answer.
Arnold: Say your answer out loud, as a question, like: What is Saturn? Right wins the points. Wrong takes them away, and the others get a go!
Lily: Watch out for Jackpot Clues: bet your points and answer it alone. Then everyone bets in the Big Bet Finale. Most points wins Question Quest!
How to play Snap It Up!
Buzz in, answer fast, crack the Who am I? and spend your points on bargains, then survive the Snap Minute.
Read the video transcript
Arnold: I read each question on the TV. When the buzzers open, hit the big button on your phone. Too early, and you’re locked out for a moment!
Lily: Buzz first, and you pick one of four answers on your phone. Everyone starts on twenty points: right is plus five, wrong is minus five.
Arnold: Once a round, it’s Who am I? The clues get easier one by one. Buzz when you know it, and a wrong guess costs nothing!
Lily: Between rounds, the leader can spend points at the Bargain Counter on a power-up. Then it’s the Snap Minute: sixty seconds of quick-fire questions. Most points wins!

Lily: Pick your answer and lock it in. The TV only shows a padlock, never your answer. Right takes you up a floor. Wrong takes you down one. Miss twice on the ground floor, and you’re out!
Lily: Stuck? You have three lifelines. Ring a Mate, Ask the Room, or Split It, which takes away two wrong answers. And only you see the help!
Arnold: Reach the top first, or keep climbing when the other player goes out, and you win! Then bank it, or keep climbing for more. And the very top, the Penthouse, is a million points!

Arnold: Watch out for the special cards! A Skip makes the next player miss a go, a Reverse turns play around, a plus two makes them pick up two, and a wild changes the colour.
Lily: Down to one card? Shout LAST CARD, or tap it, before anyone catches you, or you take two! First to play their last card wins the hand.

Lily: Here’s the twist: you can claim any character, whether you have it or not!
Arnold: Think someone’s fibbing? Tap Call the bluff! If they were bluffing, they lose a card. If they really had it, you lose one instead.
Lily: Some moves can be blocked by claiming the right character, and a block can be called a bluff too!
Arnold: Lose a card, and you pick which one to turn face up. With seven coins you can do a Takedown on anyone, and at ten you have to.
